Chabad Young Professionals of Kiev has been running since October 2017. We organise events for Kiev’s Jewish young professional community where members come to socialise, learn, network and enjoy great food.
The organisation is run by Ariel & Cherry Markovitch who live in Kiev together with their daughter, Mussia. They moved to Kiev in the Autumn of 2017. The couple were married in February 2016 in the city of Nice on the French Riviera. They went on to live in Shanghai, China, where Ariel had previously been trading in the international soybean industry. This was followed by a period in Nice where they started their career organising events for the local Jewish community.
Ariel Markovitch was born in Kiryat Gat, Israel and moved to Kiev as a child when his father became Chief Rabbi of the city. He later studied at rabbinical colleges in Israel, Toronto and New York. As well as Russian and Hebrew, Ariel speaks English, Ukrainian, Yiddish and some Mandarin.
Cherry Markovitch was born and raised in Nice, France. She attended college in Jerusalem, Israel and Florida, United States of America. She speaks French, English and Hebrew - whilst diligently studying Russian.
Chabad Young Professionals of Kiev launched with a spectacular Succot dinner in 2017, and has since held a range of other events including a lavish Seder night dinner, paintballing events, Chanukah & Purim parties, BBQs - as well as weekly beautifully prepared Friday night dinners - often based on speciality cuisines such as Japanese or Moroccan dishes.
Chabad Young Professionals has also launched a series of events focusing on business and creativity, where mentors - each specialists in their field - take time to meet and network with Jewish young professionals.
We are delighted that our community is continually growing and welcome people into our group for a range of exciting events, which have consistently received positive feedback from all our young members.
All our events are either free of charge or heavily subsidised and are funded by charitable contributions from people - based both locally and abroad - who value the work we do.
